Off to Bodo !

After what seemed like a bare doze we were up to pack our gear on a beautiful sunny morning and to say goodbye to our fabulously located, non hot water working, occassional electrcity working, two storey with death defying steps to reach the ground floor toilet during the night accommodation in Svalvane.

It was not first without some childish theatrics as I first "fire walked" (it felt like it!) in bare feet out on our iced in deck area much to the amusement of our daughter Kylee and Grandson Hayden who we were video messenging with ! With further prompting from Kylee, Monika got in on the act first building what was arguably the world's scariest looking snowman (Stephen King would have been proud !) and then doing a well insulated snow angel impression which Monika thought was amusing until she realised that she couldnt get back up !

Frivolities aside we packed the car and hit the road again opting for the beautiful FV 815 this time taking in the scenery that was mostly swallowed by heavy snow on our last journery. More great Mountain tops, more iced lakes and more spectacular coastal scenery !

Affer passing Leknes on the E10 the narrow roads now held little fear on this fabulous day with the fjords that Norway are famous for purely glistening in the morning sun !

Arriving back at Reine we took our customary car park with its million dollar view and this time, given the conditions and absence of people to annoy, i launced my drone for a quick circuit hopefully capturing the same stunning vista that my eyes were taking in. Circuit completed and with my drone warning me that with the air temperature being so low that it was likely to drop out of the sky at any moment (or something like that as it was hard to read with the ambient glare) I landed the drone so we could head off to the end of Lofoten's road network to a village with the innocuous name of A (previously called AA and no doubt an attempt to make some Guiness Book of Records listing) meaning little river in Norse. We stopped at the frequently stolen road sign (according to Wikipedia) allowing Monika to take the obligatory photo before returning 10 kms to our ferry departure point at Moskenes

We said goodbye to Lofoten and took the 3 & 1/2 hour return journey to Bodo on a ferry crowded with Easter Sunday travellers. Arriving after 7p.m. being first off , with our hotel less than 5 minutes away and on street parking restrictions lifted for Easter this was a "too easy" way of reintroducing overselves to the Norwegian mainland !

Finally, this time we ended up with a smell free hotel room complete with million dollar view over Bodo harbour - it pays to complain !
